Blot or Not?

I was out on bike ride as the sun was setting yesterday and could not resist capturing this image clearly contrasting the natural beauty of the sun with the manmade eyesore, an ideal candidate to enter into Mundane Mondays Challenge.

Blot or Not?

IMG_0208.jpg
I have been wanting to start ‘Blot or Not’ for quite some time to fill some of the gaps when i don’t have Bikes to post,  and to get some feedback from other bloggers. I don’t intend being too political with this series but do know these windmills are controversial for some people. I personally prefer them to the coal burning power stations which I grew up with and think we all have to take some responsibility for the power we consume.

Blot on the Landscape…

I am starting a new theme on my Blog (whilst the Bike is parked up for the winter) it should be easy enough to follow along and I am sure I will get some comments and feedback as we go along, the theme is ‘Blot or Not’ I start with the Alcan Aluminium smelter whose 8 chimneys can be seen here behind the Lakeside at Woodhorn near Ashington.

Alternate Horizon…

And my second entry in the ‘New Horizon’ challenge is a recent shot of Malagas ancient and impressive skyline, I especially liked the way the old sits alongside the new and the culture beside the industrial. Malaga is one of the worlds most ancient cities formed by the Phoenicians around 770bc.

New Horizon?

A fortification has sat on this horizon since c.420ad and the current castle has been ever present for over a thousand years, yet each new visitor must still look upon this wonder and not help but think of the history and the changes this horizon has seen over the centuries… I am entering this as my inspired ‘New Horizon’ in the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge.

Thinking of you…

I was just listening to BBC Radio 2 when they held their minutes silence at 11 o’clock, it really is a special moment and is so thought provoking. I felt I had to share this field of poppies on remembrance day by way of tribute to those fallen hero’s from all our conflicts. It is worth remembering and reminding people especially with all the terrible things that are still occurring in the world today, will we ever learn?

The View from the Pew….

DSC01109.jpg
It was a really beautiful day for a visit on the bike to Seahouses, however the view from todays pew is of the 8th hole (I think) at Seahouses Golf Club, a fantastic tranquil spot along the Northumberland coast which sits just over an hour north of Newcastle and about the same to the south of Scotland…..
